Politics Vs. Ethics
Doing what you say isn't always easy to verify... which is why we've vetted this Breeder List to help you start your journey, finding the right match for YOU. We don't care about color... we care about the DOG, not the politics.
No Ethical Breeder Wouldn't (Health Test)
Unfortunately, various breeder referral sites, including the "Parent Club" themselves, will point you to individuals (including board members), and will advertise their list as conforming to the Parent Club's CURRENT recommended health test screens.
- Must obtain OFA CHIC (Orthopedic Foundation For Animals - The Canine Health Information Center) certification, being screened for every disease recommended by the French Bull Dog Club of America, for dogs and bitches used as breeding stock.
- Must submit all required tests to OFA and all those tests must be verifiable in their public database.For many of their referrals, when you ACTUALLY try to verify the breeder, using the Parent Club's own instructions, too often is impossible to confirm the health tests of any dogs younger than a decade ago, if at all.
And those that claim to be AKC Breeders of Merit? Same thing... many who claim that credential cannot be verified to have CURRENT breed recommended health tests on their CURRENT breeding stock, with results that are supposed to be available to the public.
How can this be?
WE can't answer that, but we CAN make it easy for you to verify the health tests and screens of French Bulldog Breeders, and if you cannot locate their public health test records on your own, you use our links to ask the Parent Club themselves for clarification, per their own guidelines.
Parent Club Referrals
We've included most of their (public domain) referrals in this list, and added whether or not they could be verified as compliant with their club's health test requirements, and added a link to verify with the referring site themselves if we could not.

OFA HIP RESULTS: Semi-Open Database
Note: in the instance of public hip test results in OFA, if the French Bulldog was tested before age 24 months (Preliminary) and the owner did not submit authorization to release abnormal results, OFA will not make even the NORMAL results availble to the public. We personally do not agree with that policy, but it is the right OFA to make that decision. With that in mind, if you do not see a dog with hip results, it does not mean necessarily that the dog was untested. Many breeders have provided their certifications in addition to the public OFA database.

Verified Breeder Application
At French Bulldog Foundation of America, we believe in transparency and verifiability of those we refer on our Verified Breeder Page.
Verification Levels:
We realize that not all OFA results are visible to the public, for various reasons:
- Preliminary Certifications: these were performed between 12-23 months and the owner did not authorize OFA to release hip or elbow results if abnormal. Because of this, OFA will not relese NORMAL results to the public. Breeders can provide these results themselves by sharing their OFA certification.
- Results are Abnormal: OFA automatically will not post abnormal results UNLESS the owner authorizes release.
- Spine tests: this is a CLOSED database. The only way you'll see these results is if the breeder shares them.
- No tests were performed.
Full Verification
It is important that any referral must be verified as having performed the minimum health test requiremens set forth by the AKC and OFA for French Bulldogs on BOTH parents of any litter(s):
- Hip or PennHip
- Patella
- Basic Cardiac
- Eye Examination
Breeder’s who qualify, and wish to be added to the list may apply using the online application link below. You can add copies of certifications that are not available to the public or provide links to your certified French Bulldogs.
